Men and women became aware for the first time of the desolation of their streets, the dryness of their courtyards, the narrowness of their dreams as they faced the splendor and beauty of their drowned man. But they also knew that everything would be different from then on, that their houses would have wider doors, higher ceilings, and stronger floors so that Esteban's memory could go everywhere. they were going to paint their house fronts gay colors to make Esteban's memory eternal and they were going to break their backs digging for springs among the stones and planting flowers on the cliffs.
The author wanted to let us know that the villagers would imagine a fantacy world where this men was the perfect husband his wife , the perfect worker the perfect men . So they start to almost worship him with all the things they are doing to him or for him because he's dead. But made a very big change in their way of thinkining that changed the way the lived. And I believe thats exactly what the author wanted us to believe becuase he wrote it.

Subject: Large men who came from the sea and changes the lives of villagers.
Theme: The villagers in a small village imagine how well he might of lived and they get inspired to live a better way.
What do you think about what the author was trying to reveal about the subject?
I think that what he's trying to say is that this men changed the lives of all the villagers who lived in that small village because they lived very simple they didn't even have gardens outside their little homes because their homes where really small. And they imagined how fantastic this dead men was and what a wonderful life he might of had. It change their lives and they way they lived because now they plant flowers and made bigger houses with wide doors in memory of him. which his name was estaban who knows why but thats what they called him.

The Handsomest Drowned Main in the World
The drown men who came from the sea was a very tall handsome man. It was if he was an orphan because there was no sign of anyone knowing him or knowing where he came from. His name was esteban and thats what most confuses me because how would they know his name is esteban when they had no clue who he was. The womens see him as if would of been the perfect husband/man but why would they think that?? this men is dead!!! Yeah he might of been handsome but that doesnt mean he was the most perfect man in the world. He was big and tall and so tall that they sewed him clothes and cleaned him for his funeral and to throw him back to the sea. And I like that everyone deserves a funeral or a desent "Goodbye". Eventhough they didn't know this men it's very nice for this women to have washed him and sew clothes for him and to bring him flowers. He was so big the the villagers cried thinking of what a bad life he probably had because of the way he looked. The analysed the fact that some people would probably make fun of him. and I think they might be right about there is time were people are born a bit diferent and unfortunay there is bad people who make fun of them. I didn't get the end too much but it was a great story it made people belive in a magical world were there village had flowers and big houses.
"Short story--Theme"

ELA9RL2 The student identifies, analyzes, and applies knowledge of theme in literary works from various genres and provides evidence from the works to support understanding.
Students will be able to understant the main idea of the short story and will be able to describe it and provide evidence of the main idea/ theme of the story to support the meaning of the story.
What I expect from this short story project is to be able to identify the main idea and be able to understand the theme.

Before Unit 1
I think that its trying to say that students can identify things in text because of pictures or by reading the main idea. And to identify the main idea you locate the topic sentence at the beginning of the paragraph or maybe at the middle or end. And identifying evidence.
It means that students will be able to understand the thext very good. And will be able to identify themselves with the story or what ever they are reading. Comparing and contrasting.
